Visit El Paso celebrated El Paso’s 2021 travel & tourism successes with a "5 de Mayo Fiesta"

“The mission of Destination El Paso is to provide convention, tourism, venue and event management services to visitors, clients and the greater El Paso community so they can enjoy a pleasurable experience that enhances quality of life and generates economic growth.”

This past May 5th, a celebration was held to commemorate the success that the city of El Paso had in terms of tourism after almost two years of the pandemic.

The meeting took place during the afternoon at the Civic Center of El Paso and was attended by various authorities responsible for tourism in our region, including the state of Chihuahua; José Garcia, President & CEO Destination El Paso, Brooke Underwood , Executive Director, Visit El Paso, Veronica Castro, Director of Tourism Development & Strategic Alliance, Omar Gardea, Director of Event Services from El Paso Live, Teresa Matamoros Holder of the Tourist Promotion Trust Ah, Chihuahua! and Karla Romero Coordinator of the Ciudad Juárez Convention Bureau.

"Last year alone travel & tourism created over 13k jobs and 1.8 billion dollars in revenue," said José Garcia during the celebration, emphasizing the economic results obtained during 2021.

Without a doubt, recreational, medical and business tourism will have a great impact on our region. Currently, the promotion of this destination is sought not only for locals, but also for international visitors.

"Travel and sustainability can complement one another, and the right tools in place can help us to provide extraordinary experiences to our visitors," said Brooke Underwood during her speech.

During the celebration the guests were able to enjoy refreshing drinks, mariachi music, and a delicious dinner with typical Mexican food.
